Since 2006, the EPA has implemented an ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel in hopes of reducing toxic emissions into the environment. What the agency did not realize was the resulting increase in fuel pump failures due to the lack of fuel lubricity. When a high-pressure pump fails, metal contaminants spread throughout the fuel system, costing drivers thousands of dollars in repairs. This failure within the fuel pump has cost drivers thousands of dollars in damages and repairs. At STL Diesel, we can easily identify early signs of wear or fuel contamination by taking a small fuel sample. This small sample drawn from the fuel filters allows us to visually inspect the fuel to identify anything that may be harmful to your fuel system. 

Our technicians recommend adding a fuel lubricant to provide the extra lubrication lost in the ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel. This additive will prolong the life of your fuel pump, minimize contaminants in your system, and save you money down the road.
